About Jacquelyn

Photo: Self-Portrait, March 2008 Who am I? I am Jacquelyn Fisher, just your average 25-year-old who loves writing, sketching, webdesign, and singing with my younger sister. When it comes to academics, I make a career out of learning. In fact, I have three Associate Degrees in history, political science, and foreign language.

I was once told that religion is fine but should be kept private and not shared with others. I disagree. My beliefs are not merely a religion but a lifestyle. I am a Christian who has a very keen interest in theology and sharing the Gospel, as evident by my involvement in the Real Time Faith forum for Seventh-day Adventist youth. When it was closed in March 2007, I took it upon myself to create a new forum for the displaced Adventist youth to go: Real Time Believers. Many people profess to be Christian and Christendom itself incorporates a very broad spectrum of beliefs – and it is true that not all are compatible – but I hold to the simple creed: Sola Scriptura. If interested, you can read more about What I Believe.

While my own convictions are very strong, I also try to respect the beliefs of others, even when they disagree with mine, for I understand how it feels to be attacked for holding to beliefs that others disagree with; most noticeably, I have chosen to observe the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday), the only day of worship found within the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, instead of the generally accepted day of Sunday, which both history and all major Christian denominations agree is unBiblical. Because I hold to Sola Scriptura (the Bible and the Bible alone) and made the personal choice to observe the Biblical Sabbath, I have experience verbal attacks by fellow Christians. This has only strengthen my determine to follow the Bible as well as try to respect the beliefs of others. Religious tolerance.

So what are some of my interests? As you can tell from the organization of this site, I love to dabble in art, write fiction, and play around with web design. I have no formal art training – the last art class I took was the mandatory once-a-month art class in eighth grade – so I am a self-taught, amateur artist. I know that I am not very good but I find enjoyment in it none-the-less. I am also an avid reader who likes everything from childrens' books to Classics.

A dream of mine since I was in middle school was to one day become a published author. For many years, I wrote short stories and scene sketches (what I call all of those unfinished stories that are only a handful of pages in length) for myself and my family to enjoy. However, after completing the goal of 50k words in an original novel for NaNoWriMo 2006 and realizing that my unfinished novel, Healer's Quest, was not half bad, I feel that I had finally taken one step closer to achieving my childhood dream. In 2007, I completed the first draft of Healer's Quest. In 2008, I decided to try a "prequel" called The Tale of Martindale, and though it was not finished, it accomplished what I needed it to. Now I have expanded the story behind both novels and think it just may turn into a six book series...

Currently, I am working as a Marketing Assistant and Web Administrator (fancy title for webmaster) for the Marine Corps Community Service, Barstow, California. I began maintaining my own website during the summer of 1998. I am a completely self-taught, "old-school" webbie. I design and code my sites myself. You can learn more about my webdesign history here.

This is me, Jacquelyn, in a nutshell. (^o^)
